WASH Program: Improving Health and Hygiene in Sawala Village

Program Overview

Improving health, hygiene, and school attendance in Sawala village through clean water, sanitation facilities, and child-led awareness.

The WASH Program in Sawala village strengthened hygiene and health for students by improving essential sanitation facilities. We supported 150 students by constructing 9 toilets, installing a 20,000-liter water tank, and ensuring a reliable tap-water connection. These improvements led to a significant rise in girls’ school attendance, especially during menstruation, giving them dignity and confidence.

We also trained 60 children as Arogya Mitras, young health ambassadors who promote hygiene practices in school and the community. This initiative has especially benefited tribal children, creating a cleaner, safer, and healthier environment for all.
