COVID-19 Relief

Program Overview

Providing groceries, medical aid, and awareness to 6,935 beneficiaries during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown.

During the COVID-19 pandemic (2020–2022), Work for Equality launched a rapid-response relief program to support communities facing unprecedented challenges. Families of daily wage earners and marginalized communities struggled for basic necessities such as food, medicine, and hygiene. Recognizing the urgency, WE distributed grocery kits, medical aid, and hygiene materials to ensure that no one was left behind during the crisis.

The program reached 6,935 direct beneficiaries and thousands more indirectly through community support initiatives. Alongside material support, WE organized awareness campaigns on COVID-19 safety, preventive hygiene, and health practices to help communities stay safe. The initiative also focused on empowering children and youth, encouraging them to creatively document their experiences through art and writing, fostering resilience and hope amid uncertainty.

This program highlighted WE’s commitment to holistic community support, showing that timely intervention, awareness, and empathy could significantly mitigate the impact of large-scale crises. It reinforced the importance of building resilient systems to support marginalized populations during emergencies and demonstrated how communities, when guided and supported, can overcome adversity with courage and collective action.
