Work for Equality (WE) is a grassroots non-profit founded in 2010 by Prabha Vilas with the vision of building a just and equal society. Based in Maharashtra, WE works across Pune, Satara, and Parbhani to empower girls from marginalized communities through education, leadership, health, and livelihood opportunities.
Over the years, WE has impacted more than 64,000 individuals by creating girls’ leadership clubs, reintegrating school dropouts, promoting nutrition and health, and addressing gender-based violence. With a rights-based approach, strong governance, and community participation, WE ensures that every girl has the chance to learn, lead, and live with dignity.
Our mission is to empower girls from marginalized communities by ensuring access to education, health, livelihood, and leadership opportunities, enabling them to live with dignity, equality, and a voice in society.

Work for Equality (WE) was founded in 2010 by social activist Prabha Vilas with a vision to create a society where every girl can live with dignity and equal opportunity. Since its inception, the foundation has worked with marginalized communities in Maharashtra, focusing on education, leadership, health, and livelihood.
Over the years, WE has organized various events, campaigns, and awareness drives to address pressing social issues. From Chuppi Todo Abhiyan to leadership workshops, nutrition programs, and school reintegration initiatives, these events bring together girls, and communities to spark change.
WE has also been recognized through awards, public forums, and community gatherings that highlight its impact. Each event not only celebrates achievements but also strengthens partnerships with schools, NGOs, donors, and government bodies, making the vision of equality more achievable.
